In fact, part of the problem is that although the models were updated, the facial expressions, animations, and lip sync were NOT. Realistic doesn't necessarily mean better. What's wrong with the updated model? It looks way more realistic. Photo realism isn't always the best option but you can still have increased fidelity while keeping a style. I kind of liked the cartoonish style too. I guess that is a fair thing to argue over. I doubt a "maintain consistency with art style and design" clause was in that contract or a requirement. They were asked to improve models, and that's what they did. But since Sperasoft did this remaster and not Volition, I guess I can't blame them for not knowing what vision Volition had for the game. Sometimes this a problem when remastering a game, since you're expected to make everything look better while still maintaining consistency in the art style and design. It's why some of the new character models (while technically impressive) make them look completely different, as to be a different person altogether, and do NOT fit in with the rest of the game's cartoony look. What I think he means is that they went for the realism angle when it comes to the characters, which sharply contrasts with the rest of the game's art style, which is meant to be cartoony. You're insane mate, and need an eye test apparently.
